Location

Situated on Harbour Island Gordon’s Bay, Krystal Beach is positioned at the centre of various sought-after South African destinations. The hotel is located 50km from the Cape Town CBD, 40km from Cape Town International Airport, 30km from the Stellenbosch Winelands region, and 75km from Hermanus and the Overberg region. Leisure travellers, businessmen and conference delegates can now experience a vibrant urban lifestyle, whilst being able to retreat to a veritable island of solitude and splendour.

While the hotel enjoys an easy distance from much-loved destinations, the town of Gordon’s Bay itself carries an interesting history and a quieter beauty than its more popular neighbours.

Gordon’s Bay was named after Colonel Robert Jacob Gordon, a Dutch military officer who commanded the Cape garrison in the latter part of the 18th Century. Although Robert J Gordon’s involvement with the village, which would later take his name, is negligible, he was responsible for the exploration of the stunning False Bay coastline between present Gordon’s Bay and Betty’s Bay.

Today this picturesque cove, with its steep mountain drop and white sandy beaches is home to the South African Naval College and hosts a number of other marine activities. Gordon’s Bay is the ideal holiday destination, combining aspects of an international resort town with the charm of an old-style coastal village, all within a short drive from Cape Town’s city lights.
